Cast of Rebel Moon
Anthony Hopkins, a two-time Oscar-winning actor, has been cast as the voice of Jimmy, a JC1435 sentient mechanized robot who once served a defeated king. Director Zack Snyder describes Jimmy as a ‘wild card’ character embarking on a journey of self-discovery. Snyder draws a comparison between Jimmy and Lancelot, adding an Arthurian touch to the sci-fi fantasy film.
Hopkins’ role in Rebel Moon aligns with his illustrious career as a highly esteemed actor from England. He is widely recognized for his chilling portrayal of Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs and its sequels. Additionally, he played Mission Commander Swanbeck in Mission: Impossible II. Hopkins received his second Academy Award in 2021 for his leading role in The Father, directed by Florian Zeller.
Sofia Boutella takes on the role of Kora, a young woman burdened with the responsibility of assembling a defense force against Regent Balisarius. Boutella gained fame for her performance as Gazelle in Kingsman: The Secret Service and as Jaylah in Star Trek Beyond. Her film credits also include Atomic Blonde, Climax, Hotel Artemis, and The Mummy.
Djimon Hounsou joins the cast as General Titus, a character with limited details currently available. Hounsou is a highly talented actor known for his roles in acclaimed films such as Blood Diamond and Amistad. He has also appeared in several Marvel Cinematic Universe titles, including Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel as Korath the Pursuer. Ed Skrein portrays Regent Balisarius, the formidable and cunning warlord who intends to besiege a distant galaxy colony. Skrein is recognized for his role as Daario Naharis in the third season of Game of Thrones and as the villain Ajax (Francis) in Deadpool. His other film credits include Born a King, Alita: Battle Angel, and If Beale Street Could Talk.
