The Birth of Kitarou: Mystery of GeGeGe With New Visual
The upcoming anime movie “Kitaro Tanjou: GeGeGe no Nazo” has released a new visual showcasing Kitaro’s father, Medama-Oyaji, in his original form, as well as Kitaro’s adoptive father, Mizuki. Kitaro himself is also featured in the visual.

The movie is set to premiere in Japan on November 17. “Kitaro Tanjou: GeGeGe no Nazo” is based on the 2018 anime series “GeGeGe no Kitaro” and will delve into the mystery surrounding Kitaro’s birth. This movie is part of a 100th-anniversary project commemorating the late creator of “GeGeGe no Kitaro,” Shigeru Mizuki, along with a new anime adaptation of “Akuma-kun.” Toei Animation is producing the movie.

Returning cast members from the 2018 GeGeGe no Kitaro series include Miyuki Sawashiro as Kitaro and Masako Nozawa as Medama-yaji.
GeGeGe no Kitaro originated in 1960 as a rented manga series titled Hakaba Kitaro. The GeGeGe no Kitaro manga series followed in 1965.
The first anime adaptation of GeGeGe no Kitaro aired from 1968 to 1969, while the last prior to the 2018 version aired from 2007 to 2009. An anime based on Hakaba Kitaro aired in 2008.

There have been six GeGeGe no Kitaro anime series (discounting Hakaba Kitaro) and various movies. Other media inspired by the manga include live-action movies, video games, and stage plays.
